this never happens

It's 6:15 p.m. and both of our beds are unmade. Busyness is turning us into monsters. Yes, I have purple sheets.

another announcement

To be clear, we are always accepting presents. It just so happens that graduation is coming up, so presents are extra-appropriate.

So without further adieu, I am dying for an ex libris stamp to put inside my books.

Are you wondering what ex libris stands for? Well, laypeople, ex libris means "from the books" in Latin. I know this because I wiki'd it after I googled "stamps that go inside your books" and saw that lots of the images had it printed on them.

So, I obviously want the stamp to say ex libris Holly Hereth, but people, it's not so easy. The design options are ENDLESS.

So, this one looks like a coat of arms or something, which I kind of like because I feel like coat of arms gives off a good distinguished, antique library feel. I also could be into subbing from the library of for ex libris because that makes it sound like I have a library. However, I think something more whimsical might be suiting. I know that there isn't anything more whimsical than a unicorn reading a book, but what about this?

Alice in Wonderland and The Cheshire Cat? Totally different feel. Not a huge fan of so much detail in the image (that could look sloppy in ink), but I like the idea. I also like the idea of red ink, like in this one,

And if my yoga practice continues at the rate it is going now, I might need this one.

Really, what I'm going for is whimsical- vintage-country-cottage, but I don't think it exists on Etsy.

Lemme just say I don't want this one.

Who wants a rhino stamped inside their Flannery O'Connor?

Also, lemme just say that for dinner I had chips and salsa, a piece of cheese and chocolate milk. I needed to tell someone.

pencil skirt town, population: me

I had my first big girl job interview today. . You should first know that I wore a pencil skirt, which is always a thrill, and carried coffee in a travel cup.

Also, they reimbursed me for gas. A lot! Is that normal? I really like it. Also, the interview was 7 hours.

Ah, the pains of adulthood.

All for now. I'm ex-haust-ed.

isle of palmes

just a few more pictures from the beach last week. growing up, i never appreciated the carolina coastline, but thanks to Kevin Costner and his self-sacrificing love in Message in a Bottle as well as a walk alone on the beach at sunset with my camera, I think I've changed my mind. I don't think I would mind moving to the shore and marrying an older man who is a sailor and who builds wooden boats and who is the son of paul newman. This would be our life and I think I could get used to that.  justsayin.

f is for flower crush

new favorite flower: yellow rhinoculous (take note, gentlemen). my love affair with them began at a small boutique in charleston last week. so when they cosmically reappeared in my life at trader joes on monday, i grabbed the prettiest yellow bunch i could find and brought them back to settle down in a baby mason jar next to my bed. the arrival of a golden spring sunset gave my new lovelies a chance to model on the back deck this evening. i'm sure they loved getting to breath in the sweet, warm air.

all this talk of the future these days really can get overwhelming, but, if the future ahead looks anything like my backyard this evening- its looking bright! good thing i just got new shades.

monday

Doesn't this look fab-ulous?

It's the week for interviews around here at a little seed, a little water. Meagan has two today in Atlanta, and I have one there on Thursday, and when we get jobs and turn into grown-ups in a few months, dinner will look like this every night. Vineyard in the back ground and everything. Atlanta... ah, wine country.

Lately, my notions of what the coming months will be like are shifting between poles of utter desolation and idyllic thrill. Some days I wake up ready to pack my bags for a year in some foreign country; others I can't even think of packing up my books without tearing up as I picture myself alone in a one-bedroom, white-walled apartment with no furniture eating frozen pizza off of the cardboard box.

I would rather just not face this, but like every change before, I suspect it will be filled with quiet, meager hope not of my own, even when it's masked with fear like today.

chucktown

These six girls know how to spring break. Seriously! What the pictures don't show are morning power walks even when it was really windy, yoga on the beach, 9+ hours of sleep per night (hallelujah), good books, a little place called Bagel Nation (home to the best bagels ever and tons of flavored coffees. Meagan ate there 4 times.), happy hour everyday at five WITH CHEESE, and dare I say, drinks with Citadel boys. It was fabulous.

Meg and I also got to visit our friend Trent for a day-trip to Savannah and to his home in the lovely Beaufort, South Carolina where drank coke out of glass bottles and pretended to own boat houses. It was like we were in a Nicholas Sparks book but better.

So all in all, a great spring break to end on! Remember after my birthday last year when I said that it's totally not fair for the rest of the people in the world that I have the most spectacular, awesome, hilarious friends? It's still true. They really should be more evenly distributed but they just aren't, and I'm the lucky girl who gets to go on vacation with them.

My only complaint is that I didn't eat any shrimp and grits. How do you go to Charleston and not eat shrimp and grits? I'm so ashamed. Also, the a/c in the camry broke, so I guess that's two complaints, but let's get real. If I had all those things, what would I have to look forward to in heaven? It's going to be like last week WITH shrimp and grits AND a car that's check engine light isn't always on. Overwhelming to think about.

lies, lies, lies!

When I was little my mom wouldn't let me take showers when it was storming outside. Why? Because you will get struck by lightening.

Well, unfortunately:

How scary are those lightening bolts? I sat on my bed this morning, sweaty in my yoga clothes and unshowered since monday, wondering if a shower was worth the risk... you know, of dying. Then I thought of all the things my mom has taught me that aren't true.

If you use shampoo from a grocery store and not from a salon your hair will end up looking and feeling like a horses tail. Obviously not true. I learned this freshman year of college.

If you breath in the pesticides from the mosquito trucks, you will die. I realize that the pesticides probably aren't good for you, but DIE? Too far.

Microwaves and aluminum cans give you cancer. False.

If you don't clean your plate at Golden Corral you have to pay extra. I can't believe I fell for this one. Note that my mom wouldn't let me use Herbal Essences, but did let me eat at Golden Corral. There is no logic.

So, I took a shower. I mean, how many people do you know who have gotten struck by lightening in the shower? Case proven.

Part of growing up is learning that most of the things your parents taught you are lies.

second is the best...

in an attempt to prolong the life of my computer, im giving my harddrive (possible incorrect use of technological terminology, notsurecauseimuptoolate) a little spring cleaning. in the process, i found this picture. it makes me happy. i love my roommates and my dad who sends us flowers. i am blessed.

Welcome to the new home of a little seed, a little water! We are so glad that you navigated through the turbulent world wide web to find us.

The coming months are bringing big changes for these two college graduates to-be, and we thought it only appropriate to revamp ye olde bloge. Plus, we want more design control, plain and simple. Make sure to update your Google Reader and RSS feed so you can stay tuned for where we are going. You know what they say. Life is a journey. Bring snacks.

So, thanks for stopping by, have a look around, pull up a chair and settle in!
